Entry for the 2008 Championships
We are still negotiating with venues on availability and
dates and so we cannot announce the programme for the Championship Finals at the
moment. Suffice it to say, we will be using an impressive list of top ranking
golf courses. The English and Scottish Regional and National Finals will run
from late September, and the Home Nations Final will be in early January. The
Irish team for the Home Nations Final will be the winners of the GUI-run Fred
Daly Trophy, and the Welsh team will be the winners of the WGU Junior Inter-Club
Championship.
Entry for England and Scotland is as usual via the Junior
Leagues, with each league or other qualifying competition that has paid the £220
entry fee nominating a club to represent them at the Regional Finals (in the
case of England) and the National Final (in the case of Scotland). Under normal
circumstances, this will be the League Champions. Any league consisting of more
than ten clubs may have up to two places and any with twenty or more clubs may
have three places, provided they pay the additional £220 for each place.
The top two teams from each English Regional Final qualify
for the English National Final. The winners of the English, Scottish, Welsh and
the Fred Daly Trophy in Ireland qualify for the Home Nations Final. We pay for a
team squad of seven plus the Junior Organiser/Convenor of each finalist for the
trip.
